Liam Veuve
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Liam Veuve began playing the cello at the age of six at the School for Strings in New York City.
Mr. Veuve is passionate about chamber music and orchestra alike, and has performed in wide array of
settings, including concerts in many of North America’s major venues. He has played orchestral and chamber music in Carnegie Hall, a solo performance in Avery Fisher Hall, as well as concerts in Severance Hall in Cleveland. He has performed in solo and chamber music master classes with renowned artists such as Timothy Eddy, Bonnie Hampton, Ani Kavafian, Yehuda Hanani, Vivian Weilerstein, and Peter Salaff, as well as with members of the Emerson and Julliard String Quartets. In spring 2014, he performed the world premiere of Jason Eckardt’s “Ascension” for string quartet. Mr. Veuve regularly appears as a guest artist in the Manchester Music Festival Ensemble and is currently on cello faculty at the Mahanaim School in Huntington, NY.
As an orchestral musician, Mr. Veuve has worked under the baton of conductors such as Giancarlo Guerrero, Carlos Miguel Prieto, and Benjamin Zander, among others. He has held the principal cello position in the Purchase Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Institute of Music Orchestra, and YOA Orchestra of the Americas, a touring orchestral festival whose mission is to bring classical music to underexposed areas and communities as a catalyst for social change. In the summer of 2012, he was selected to travel throughout Chile for four weeks, performing in halls such as the beautiful Teatro del Lago in Fruitillar. Recent studio projects include recording music for producer Alvaro Domingo’s upcoming feature film, “The Bohemians,” based on Puccini’s “La Bohéme,” and a collaboration with the Nouveau Classical Project.
An experienced chamber musician, Mr. Veuve has held fellowship or full-scholarship positions in numerous summer music festivals, including at the Manchester Music Festival Young Artist program in the summers of 2009 and 2011. In previous years, he attended the Mannes Beethoven Institute, School for Strings Chamber Music Workshop, and “Oberlin in Italy” summer festival through Oberlin Conservatory: a six-week intensive chamber music and opera program culminating in a concert-tour through Tuscany.
In addition to his performing activities, Mr. Veuve is dedicated to music education and outreach. He holds an Assistant Faculty/Chamber Music Coach position at the Manhattan in the Mountains Festival in Hunter, NY. In past years, he participated in Manchester Music Festival’s “Music Education Week,” teaching local school children in Vermont. Mr. Veuve completed Suzuki teacher training with Dr. Melissa Kraut at the Cleveland Institute of Music and is a certified Suzuki instructor.
Mr. Veuve holds a BA from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, with a concentration in music, language and philosophy. He received his MM in cello performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying under the tutelage of Richard Weiss and Merry Peckham.
