The Louis Moreau Institute
For New Music Performance, New Orleans
In response to current events, the Louis Moreau Institute for New Music Performance would like to state unequivocally that we are committed to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in the arts.
The arts in a society both reflect and shape its consciousness, its conscience, and its vision of a better world. As an arts organization, we take this responsibility seriously, and support the demands for equality and justice emanating from the communities that are suffering most.
We are dedicated to contributing to this conversation in a meaningful way. To this end, we are committing to examining our programming and seeking literature by BIPOC composers and by composers who identify as women.
If you have the means, we encourage you to consider donating to The Roots of Music and/or Make Music NOLA, local organizations providing music education and other community services to children in New Orleans.
These are only the first steps. We will continue to explore ways in which we can contribute to diversifying the world of contemporary art music and encourage our supporters to critically examine and identify ways in which they can contribute as well.
